Neighboring country Poland scrambled fighter jets to ensure the safety of Polish airspace, the Polish military confirmed. Allied Nato aircraft were similarly activated. Lviv's regional head Maksym Kozytskyi said two individuals were fatally injured in attacks in the area, and two more wounded. Elsewhere, Russian forces again targeted energy infrastructure - and a facility was hit in an nocturnal assault on Zaporizhzhia region, where the city official reported one person died and more than 73,000 people were without electricity. Defensive Measures The Russian assaults came days after a American representative stated the US would endorse Ukrainian forces conducting long-range attacks within Russia's borders. "Our and partner nations' jets are active in Polish skies, while ground-based air defence and radar reconnaissance systems have been brought to the highest state of readiness," military officials stated. At early morning, the entire country was placed on high alert following air defense warnings of Russian missile and drone attacks. Infrastructure Damage Russian military has intensified its attacks on the country's power grid. Lviv's mayor Andriy Sadovyi reported several districts - 43 miles from the border with Poland - had no power, adding that the city's air defence systems were actively involved in countering first a UAV and then a Russian missile attack. As of 07:30, parts of the city were experiencing outages and public transport was yet to start running, with Sadovyi emphasizing that it was "unsafe to venture outdoors". In Zaporizhzhia, Russia's overnight attack left "over seventy-three thousand users... without power", according to regional officials. One person was killed, and nine injured, Fedorov said. A teenage female was one of those requiring hospital treatment, officials noted, releasing images depicting a damaged multi-storey block and a destroyed vehicle from the impact location. Wider Consequences Municipal transit in another western city, would "begin operations with delay" on Sunday, its city administration said. The multiple strikes were components of Russia's threats against the whole of Ukraine overnight. At around 06:00, Ukraine's Air Force warned the entire territory was facing danger of fresh Russian missile attacks, following hours of air raid alerts and warnings of aerial assaults. Territorial Control Moscow's troops have occupied the majority of Ukraine's eastern Donbas region, including Luhansk and Donetsk. Russian authorities currently controls around a fifth of Ukraine's land, including the Crimea region, which it annexed in 2014. International Context In Russia, anti-aircraft systems eliminated 32 Ukrainian drones overnight, news agencies reported on Sunday. Last week, a American diplomat said that the United States would back Ukrainian forces conducting long-range operations inside Russian territories. Meanwhile, another Nato member - the Baltic nation - had to close its airspace temporarily after objects were spotted. Authorities suspended flights at its largest and busiest international airport for multiple hours, before resuming operations at early morning on Sunday. The aviation authorities stated the operational pauses and reroutings were "due to a possible series of aerial objects heading toward Vilnius Airport".
